Robert Bush Original Punk Rock Flyers
Title
Robert Bush Original Punk Rock Flyers
Description
This collection was given to the Valley Relics Museum by Robert Bush. It consists of 60 punk rock flyers and 5 posters and some additional replicates, in years ranging from 1983-1994. With Punk Rock bands like The Misfits from New Jersey, Black Flag from Hermosa Beach, California, to bands like The Saints from Brisbane, Australia, this collection has a wide range of events that extend beyond American Punk Rock that the Valley was lucky enough to have been a part of.
Emerging sometime between 1974-1976, Punk Rock was characterized by generations of bands. Overall, this collection is indicative of a time of rejection of mainstream, and the popularity of concerts. Punk Rock is significant to the Valley's history because it showcases a passtime and ultimately a glimpse into what many people were doing in the 80's and early 90's. For merely three dollars, people could enjoy a show with multiple bands until late at night. Now, we look back at some of the venues mentioned in these flyers and find that they are now things like fabric stores, party venues, or local art galleries. Resurfacing these flyers can help people reminisce an event they went to, the bands that played, and a crazy night.
Condition: wrinkled, folded, some with stains, but well preserved. Everything is legible, some still have tape attached to it. Some are taped to each other.
Stephany Arreola researched and archived this collection in 2018.
