Description:Menu from Jimbill’s Coffee Shop, a family restaurant located at 12192 San Fernando Rd., Sylmar (not on menu). The restaurant was there until at least 1969. The menu depicts the coffee shop beneath a starry sky, and this building is still in operation today under the name Olympic Coffee Shop as of 2015. It contains five little typewritten or printed inserts with specials held with paperclips. [show more]

Description:Menu from Jojo’s, a Mexican restaurant located at 8438 Reseda Blvd., Northridge. There was a sister location in Panorama City (on Van Nuys Blvd., according to a note by Alan Gorsky). Pronounced “Hoho’s”, Jojo’s was opened in 1961 on the former site of Sasha’s Palate shishkabob restaurant in Northridge (see VR/PC/RS/41). Oscar Sesma, who ran the Panorama City Jojo’s, took over the Northridge location as well in 1969.
Condition: Dirty and stained. There is a note from Alan Gorsky stapled to the front of the menu. [show more]

Description:Menu from Kandel’s Restaurant, Caterers, Delicatessen & Bakery, a Jewish Deli located at 17410 Ventura Blvd., Encino; 20825 Sherman Way, Canoga Park. Kandel’s seems to have opened between 1977 (when the Encino address was a delicatessen called Fromin’s, based in Santa Monica) and 1984, when the Valley adopted the 818 area code. Today, the Encino location is the Versailles Cuban restaurant, and the Canoga Park location may have been replaced with apartments. [show more]

The LA Times called it “a hamburger hut in a make-believe radio station.” WGB stood for “World’s Greatest Burger,” and there may have been an actual radio station that took requests. Opened in 1993 at the inauguration of Universal City Walk. It was still there circa 2000 but seems to be gone now. [show more]

Little Toni’s opened at the North Hollywood location in circa 1957. It was so popular, the Woodland Hills location opened up in 1967. The Woodland Hills Little Toni’s underwent expansion in 1973.
